The vaccine against HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
Indications:
- protection against HPV causing cervical cancer
- protection against genital warts
- vaccination is recommended for all healthy people over 9 years of age (preferably before they have begun sexual activity), especially for women aged 18-28
Before vaccination:
- A medical consultation is necessary before any dose of the vaccine.
Vaccination procedure:
- The full vaccination cycle up to the age of 15 consists of 2 doses of the same preparation. The second dose should be taken after 6 months.
- The full vaccination cycle above 15 years of age consists of 3 doses of the same preparation.
The second dose should be given after 1-3 months, the third dose six months after the first. Individual vaccination doses may be postponed due to health conditions (e.g. common cold); however, it is advised to complete the full cycle within 12 months of the first dose.
After vaccination:
- The vaccination is completely safe; it does not give any side effects in the form of an increase in body temperature or the development of infection.
- After the vaccination, the patient remains under observation for 15 minutes.
- A slight swelling, local, short-term soreness may appear around the injected area.
- Vaccine immunity is long-lasting; one vaccination course lasts a lifetime.
Contraindications:
- Fever and weakness due to infection
- Hypersensitivity to active substances or auxiliary substances in the vaccine
- Signs of hypersensitivity after the first or second dose of the vaccine
